Ljubljana, Oct. 19 (Petra)- Deputising for His Majesty King Abdullah II, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Slovenia Prime Minister Robert Golob, during a meeting in Ljubljana on Sunday, discussed ways to develop cooperation between Jordan and Slovenia.

The Crown Prince and Prime Minister Golob expressed their readiness to elevate relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership.

His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of the memorandum of understanding signed today between the governments of Jordan and Slovenia in the field of digital transformation, noting the need to continue expanding cooperation in various sectors.

The Crown Prince emphasised Slovenia’s important role in supporting Middle East peace efforts within the framework of the European Union, particularly during its upcoming tenure as president of the Security Council in December.

Speaking about the situation in Gaza, His Royal Highness and the Slovenian prime minister stressed the need to commit to the ceasefire and ensure implementation of all stages of the agreement to end the war, noting the critical efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye that led to the agreement.

The two sides agreed on the need to continue bolstering the humanitarian response in Gaza.

The meeting also touched on the situation in Syria and the need to safeguard its unity, security, stability, and territorial integrity.

For his part, Prime Minister Golob affirmed the convergence of views between Slovenia and Jordan in supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of the two-state solution.

Prime Minister Golob also stressed the need to maintain comprehensive calm in the West Bank, noting the importance of the Hashemite Custodianship in safeguarding Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Slovenia Mohammad Hindawi attended the meeting.
