DoS: Inflation Remains Stable in 2025

Amman, Jan. 11 (Petra) -- The consumer price index (Inflation) remained broadly stable in 2024 and 2025, staying below 2%, reflecting relatively balanced price levels in the Kingdom.
According to a Department of Statistics (DoS) report, inflation for 2025 stood at 112.67 points, compared with 110.71 points in 2024.
At the group level in 2025, inflation declined for vegetables and dried and canned pulses (down 4.52%), household tools (down 2.67%), furniture, carpets, and bedding (down 1.91%), and household appliances (down 1.78%).
Increases were recorded for personal effects (up 22.71%), tea, coffee and cocoa (up 10.35%), tobacco and cigarettes (up 10.17%), fruits and nuts (up 9.35%), and oils and fats (up 4.78%).
On a monthly basis, inflation for December 2025 reached 113.22 points, compared with 111.76 points in December 2024. Groups that helped moderate the increase included vegetables, dried and canned pulses, meat and poultry, household appliances, and dairy products and eggs, while upward pressure came from personal effects, tea, coffee and cocoa, oils and fats, and fruits and nuts.
Inflation in December 2025 stood at 113.22 points versus 112.46 points in November 2025, driven by higher prices for meat and poultry (up 3.81%), personal effects (up 2.91%), rents (up 2.60%), oils and fats (up 2.27%), and sugar and sugar products (up 1.29%).
The DoS noted that inflation is calculated based on a consumer basket covering 850 items, including 325 food items and 525 non-food items.
