Amman, May 19 (Petra) -- Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahafzah, participated as a keynote speaker at the Education World Forum (EWF) in London.
Speaking at a main session titled "Investing in Teachers to Strengthen Educational Systems," Mahafzah discussed methods to support teachers, enhance their capabilities, and empower them to keep pace with rapid transformations in the education sector to improve learning outcomes in a changing world.
According to a ministry statement, Mahafzah emphasized that the success of educational systems begins when people students, teachers, and local communities are placed at the core of the educational process. He added that investing in high-quality education, empowering educators, and developing future skills are essential steps toward building an aspirational society.
The minister highlighted the importance of investing in technology and artificial intelligence to advance education and boost learning quality. He stressed the necessity of equipping students with the digital and innovative skills required for the future, aligning with the vision of Jordan's National Council for Future Technology to build an advanced national ecosystem for future skills and enhance the Kingdom's global digital readiness.
The annual forum in the British capital brings together education ministers, senior officials, and policymakers from around the globe. Recognized as the world's largest annual gathering of education and skills ministers, the event fosters dialogue and knowledge-sharing on the future of education, with Jordan's participation supported by the British Embassy and the British Council in Amman.
The 2026 edition of the Education World Forum addresses the pivotal role of education in fostering resilience, innovation, and social cohesion amidst accelerating global challenges.
This year's sessions focus on reimagining education to empower learners with the skills and values needed for sustainable and equitable societies, exploring themes such as digital transformation, AI integration, curriculum modernization, vocational and technical training, and aligning education with labor market demands.
On the sidelines of the forum, Mahafzah is scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with counterpart ministers, international education leaders, and representatives from international organizations and the private sector.
These discussions will explore cooperation, exchange expertise, and showcase Jordan's experience in digital transformation, AI in education, vocational training, and future skills development.
The itinerary will also include the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at advancing joint partnerships in higher education and scientific research, reinforcing Jordan's position as an active regional and international partner in educational and technological initiatives.
