Education Ministry Hosts Forum to Advance Inclusive Education

Amman, Feb. 12 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Education on Thursday organized a forum titled "Meeting on the Promise: Strengthening Joint Efforts Towards a More Equitable and Inclusive Education," with the participation of education directorates, public schools, educational leaders, and national and international partners.

Minister of Education Azmi Mahafza, who patronized the event, said the forum comes at a critical juncture in Jordan’s education reform process, reflecting the alignment between field-level aspirations and the Ministry’s strategic priorities.

He noted that the models and experiences showcased during the forum represent tangible outcomes of the Ten-Year Inclusive Education Strategy, which serves as a national roadmap toward an education system that rejects exclusion and promotes equal opportunities.

Mahafza said the Ministry is committed to ensuring that every child in Jordan has access to a supportive and enabling learning environment that fosters achievement and active participation in society, regardless of abilities or disabilities. He added that Jordan, under the Hashemite leadership, has long championed the principles of justice and equality.

He stressed that schools are not merely physical facilities, but inclusive learning environments that embrace diversity and harness it as a catalyst for innovation and excellence, in line with Jordan’s Declaration on Inclusion and Diversity in Education.

German Ambassador to Jordan Bertram von Moltke said inclusive education is a long-term institutional process that requires sustained partnership, continuous professional development, and structured reform efforts. He highlighted Germany’s support to the Ministry of Education since 2019 in advancing inclusive education at both the policy and implementation levels.

Inclusive education constitutes a core pillar of the National Education Strategy and a priority within Jordanian-German development cooperation through the "Promoting Quality in Inclusive Education in Jordan (PROMISE)" project. The initiative is implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

The forum brought together representatives from the Ministry, six field directorates, and 60 public schools, alongside development partners, to showcase achievements, exchange best practices, and explore mechanisms to scale up inclusive education across the Kingdom’s governorates. It also served as a platform to present school-based innovations aimed at ensuring quality education for all learners.
