Amman, February 24 (Petra) – The Ministry of Education launched a pilot study to assess the impact of providing Chromebooks to 5,000 students in grades four through ten as part of efforts to advance digital transformation in schools.

The initiative is being implemented in partnership with Google and is supported and funded by the World Bank under the "Masar" programme. It aims to enhance the digital learning environment by equipping students with reliable devices, digital platforms, updated educational content and modern tools that foster creative and technology-driven learning.

The announcement coincided with an official visit to Tokyo led by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research Azmi Mahafza, a member of the Future Technology Council.

The visit focuses on exploring global best practices in digital education, particularly Japan's GIGA School Programme, through meetings with senior Japanese education and technology officials.

The Ministry said the pilot phase would include a comprehensive impact assessment to inform a phased nationwide rollout.

The programme promotes inclusive education, with 10 visually impaired students from Abdullah Bin Maktoum School participating using Chromebooks equipped with assistive technologies, alongside specialised teacher training.

The Ministry described the initiative as a strategic step toward modernising Jordan's education system and implementing evidence-based digital reforms aligned with international standards.
