Educational conference calls for AI integration and curriculum reform

Irbid, May 2 (Petra) -- Experts and academics at an international educational conference in Jordan have called for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms and a comprehensive overhaul of teacher training to meet the demands of the digital age.

The third international conference of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Irbid National University, titled "Renewing Educational Practices in Light of Modern Educational Changes," concluded on Saturday following two days of intensive scientific sessions.

The event, held under the patronage of Lower House of Representatives Speaker Mazen Al-Qadi, brought together researchers and specialists from Jordan and abroad to address contemporary challenges in the global education sector.

Participants emphasized the necessity of adopting innovative educational models powered by AI. They stressed that such technology must be implemented within clear regulatory frameworks, coupled with specialized training to ensure teachers can utilize these tools effectively.

The conference recommendations urged educational authorities to redesign teacher preparation programs to align with digital requirements and professional technological competencies. Attendees also advocated for the expansion of inclusive education to provide comprehensive environments for students with special needs.

The closing statement highlighted the importance of embedding digital citizenship, ethical values, and sustainable development into school curricula. Experts also noted that media and legal literacy are essential for students to navigate modern challenges.

In its final resolutions, the conference called for the adoption of "adaptive and digital leadership" styles to improve institutional performance and manage organizational change within schools and universities.

Delegates further encouraged the use of active learning strategies and technology-based instruction to bridge the gap between educational outcomes and labor market requirements. The recommendations placed a high priority on developing students’ critical and creative thinking skills.

The university said the gathering served as a platform for international academic cooperation, aiming to provide innovative solutions to the rapid global shifts in the education and digital mental health sectors.
