Egypt, China Urge Respect of Jordan's, Gulf States' Sovereignty

Cairo, Sept. 2 (Petra) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping discussed in Cairo on Wednesday regional and international issues, stressing as a priority de-escalation and respect for the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of Jordan and Gulf Cooperation Council states, as well as freedom of navigation.
The two leaders also emphasized the need to spare the region's peoples from the negative repercussions of the crisis.
The official spokesman of the Egyptian presidency said in a statement that the talks tackled developments in the Palestinian issue, with the Egyptian leader stressing the need to reach a just settlement in line with international legitimacy resolutions. The leaders also discussed efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East.
The spokesman said Cairo and Beijing saw eye to eye on the need to prioritize diplomacy to find comprehensive and sustainable solutions to crises and conflicts.
