Cairo, Oct. 14 (Petra) – The Arab Republic of Egypt has won a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026–2028 term, following elections held Tuesday at the UN General Assembly in New York, where Egypt secured 173 votes, underscoring the strong international support for its candidacy.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this marks Egypt’s third term on the Council, including two terms under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reflecting international confidence in Egypt’s active role in advancing human rights globally.

The ministry added that this achievement represents a key milestone in the country’s efforts to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms, expressing appreciation to friendly nations that supported Egypt’s bid.
