Amman, August 3 (Petra) – The Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET) announced that its training arm, the International Academy of Public Health (IAPH), has trained more than 300 health-sector workers through the Professional Diploma in Integrated Primary Health Care.

The program aims to strengthen a multidisciplinary workforce capable of delivering integrated and coordinated primary health care services.

In a statement issued Monday, EMPHNET reported that the Ministry of Health is leading the implementation of the Family Health Team approach, with technical support from IAPH, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), and with support from the European Union. Since the diploma’s launch, 315 primary health care professionals have enrolled, reflecting the sector’s multidisciplinary approach.

The participants included 60 general practitioners, 43 family physicians, 109 nurses, 40 pharmacists, 38 midwives, and 11 dentists, as well as 14 professionals in other fields, including social work, nutrition, and medical laboratory sciences.

EMPHNET explained that the six-month diploma combines clinical practice with core public health principles through an integrated, multidisciplinary curriculum covering health promotion, disease prevention, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, teamwork, and patient-centered care.

The network noted that the diploma is accredited by the Jordan Medical Council, the Jordanian Nursing Council, and the Higher Health Council. It indicated that the program supports the Family Health Team approach by preparing physicians, nurses, pharmacists, midwives, dentists, and other health professionals to provide more integrated, coordinated, and patient-centered primary health care services.

Participants described the diploma as a practical learning experience that strengthened their professional practices and reinforced the importance of multidisciplinary care.
