Amman, May 5 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Environment on Tuesday spearheaded a simultaneous nationwide cleanup campaign across all governorates as part of its ongoing executive program to enhance environmental awareness and curb the illegal dumping of waste.

The initiative, part of the 2026–2027 National Strategy for Cleanliness, targeted several vital locations across the kingdom.

As part of the day's activities, the ministry launched the "Keep a Bag in Your Car" initiative. Volunteers distributed reusable waste bags to motorists to discourage roadside littering and promote responsible environmental behavior among road users.

The massive undertaking involved a broad coalition of government bodies, including the Ministries of Interior, Education, Agriculture, Tourism, Culture, Public Works, and Islamic Affairs. Security and civil protection forces also played a major role, with participation from the Royal Administration for Environmental Protection, the Community Police, and the Civil Defense.

The campaign saw significant engagement from the youth and civil society, supported by the Crown Prince Foundation, the "All of Jordan" Youth Commission, various universities, schools, and environmental associations. Local community leaders and volunteers also joined the efforts.

The Ministry of Environment stated that these synchronized actions are part of a continuous series of campaigns designed to instill a culture of public cleanliness and protect the Kingdom’s natural landscapes. By improving the urban and rural aesthetic, the ministry aims to foster long-term positive behavioral changes and solidify the public's role in environmental preservation.
