Amman, Jan. 26 (Petra) - The Ministry of Environment, through the Environmental Protection Directorate in Irbid Governorate, carried out a comprehensive clean-up campaign in the Jiza forests in the Northern Mazar District, with the participation of the Northern Mazar Municipality and the Joint Services Council, as part of the executive program of the cleanliness strategy and efforts to curb random dumping of waste.
The campaign aimed to remove accumulated waste from forested areas, preserve vegetation cover and the natural environment, and enhance environmental awareness of the importance of protecting forests and preventing environmental violations that pose a threat to the ecosystem and public health.
The ministry said the campaign is part of its ongoing efforts, in cooperation with local partners, to implement national cleanliness plans and curb negative practices represented by dumping waste in natural sites, especially in forested and tourist areas.
Participating entities praised the importance of collaborative work between official institutions, municipalities, and joint services councils, affirming the continuation of such campaigns regularly to maintain environmental cleanliness and promote a culture of social responsibility among citizens.
The ministry, through the Environmental Protection Directorate in Karak Governorate and in cooperation with the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, also carried out a clean-up campaign in Karak city center near Karak University College.
Security agencies in Karak Governorate, the Karak Directorate of Education, and the Greater Karak Municipality participated in the campaign as part of strengthening collaborative work among official, security, and local institutions.
The campaign aimed to enhance environmental awareness among community members, reduce manifestations of random waste dumping, and entrench a culture of social responsibility toward environmental protection, contributing to the preservation of public cleanliness and the protection of vital sites in the governorate.
The Ministry of Environment said the campaign comes as part of its ongoing efforts to implement the pillars of the national cleanliness strategy, in cooperation with various partners, given its positive impact on improving environmental conditions and promoting sound environmental behavior.
