Amman, Feb 17 (Petra) - The Ministry of Environment, through the Environmental Protection Office in Madaba Governorate, on Tuesday organized, in cooperation with the German Jordanian University and several official and service entities, a comprehensive clean-up campaign in the Central Mamounia area of the governorate, within the executive program of the cleanliness strategy and the reduction of random waste dumping.
Patronizing the campaign, Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman said such initiatives reflect growing awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and strengthening social responsibility, noting that curbing random waste dumping constitutes a national priority due to its direct impact on public health and the civilizational image.
He stressed the ministry’s continued support for awareness and field programs in cooperation with educational institutions and local bodies, in a manner that contributes to consolidating a culture of environmental preservation and achieving sustainable results.
The campaign saw the participation of staff and machinery from Madaba Municipality, the Madaba Joint Services Council, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection and the community police, in addition to the Madaba governor, the governorate’s police director, the university president and university students, within the framework of enhancing institutional partnership to serve environmental issues.
The campaign included extensive field cleaning works that covered the removal of waste and debris from streets and vacant lands, in addition to distributing environmentally friendly cloth bags to vehicles, to reduce random littering, encourage responsible environmental behavior, and promote a culture of maintaining public cleanliness.
The campaign aims to promote civil behavior among various segments of society, particularly youth, improve public cleanliness conditions, and curb the phenomenon of random waste dumping, contributing to preserving public health and enhancing the governorate’s civilizational appearance, within ongoing efforts to strengthen environmental awareness and entrench community partnership in environmental protection.
