Amman, Aug. 19 (Petra) -- The Ministry of Environment and the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN) signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to implement a rainwater harvesting project for the pottery workshop at the Dibeen Forest Reserve.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman and RSCN Director General Fadi Al-Naser.

Funded through the Jerash Governorate Council (Decentralization) projects with a total budget of JD18,000, the initiative aims to enhance water management efficiency at the workshop by collecting, storing, and reusing rainwater. The setup is designed to optimize water consumption, strengthen climate change adaptation, and upgrade the reserve's environmental infrastructure.

Suleiman emphasized that the project underscores the importance of adopting sustainable solutions within natural reserves, noting the ministry's commitment to partnering with the RSCN to protect natural resources and support sustainable development.

For his part, Al-Naser stated that the rainwater harvesting system represents a practical step toward improving water efficiency at the pottery workshop, supporting its operational sustainability while preserving local natural resources.

The project entails constructing a complete rainwater collection system for the facility, including all necessary civil and mechanical works to gather, store, and reuse rainwater according to approved technical specifications. By reducing reliance on conventional water sources, the project advances the joint efforts of the ministry and the RSCN to promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation across Jordan's protected areas.
