Amman, April 8 (Petra) – European Union Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas on Wednesday reiterated the bloc's commitment to supporting Jordan economically and politically, with a shift from traditional grants and aid to integrated financing.
Addressing a session on economic diplomacy and its role in strengthening the economy and diplomatic partnerships, held on the sidelines of the Economic Forum for Diplomatic Missions in Jordan, Chatzisavas said integrated financing combines grants, soft loans, and official development assistance to maximize the impact of investments and strengthen the long-term strategic partnership between the two sides.
The Head of Delegation of the EU noted the deep and diverse cooperation between the EU and Jordan, adding that the relationship extends across numerous sectors, including health, education, and culture, forming a comprehensive strategic partnership.
He also highlighted the importance of cementing economic and trade relations, with a focus on strategic sectors such as water, energy, and digital economy.
The envoy said the Jordanian-European Investment Conference, which will be held at the end of the year after being postponed due to regional tensions, will be a platform to present investment opportunities and reaffirm support for Jordan.
He pointed to tours by ministers to European capitals to engage with the private sector and highlight Jordan's safe and stimulating business environment, emphasizing streamlined procedures, incentives, and unified investment frameworks.
Chatzisavas reviewed strategic projects such as the national water carrier project, which will generate jobs and establish an integrated industrial ecosystem, along with initiatives in renewable energy, particularly green hydrogen, and the digital communications sector linked to economic corridors between the European Union, Jordan, India, and the Indo-Pacific region.
For his part, Indian Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chauhan, commended Jordan in maintaining regional stability and providing humanitarian aid to those in need, noting the deep relations with the Kingdom.
These relations, he said, represent a solid foundation for economic diplomacy and embody India's vision of close trade and investment cooperation, especially following the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Jordan last year to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
Ambassador Samer Naber, Director of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, stressed the key role of embassies in promoting the national economy and supporting investors in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, energy, and fertilizers.
