Extension of Incentives to Support Industrial Investment, Economic Growth, JIEC Says

Amman, Aug. 3 (Petra) -- The Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC) said the Cabinet's decision to extend reduced land sale prices in the industrial cities of Madaba, Tafilah and Salt for an additional three years will help sustain industrial investments and support economic growth.

JIEC Director General Odei Obaidat welcomed the decision, saying it will allow existing companies to complete their production projects while reinforcing the government's commitment to supporting the industrial sector and strengthening the investment environment in the governorates.

In a statement on Monday, Obaidat said the decision sends a positive message to local and foreign investors by providing existing companies with greater certainty to complete their projects while encouraging new value-added industrial investments.

He said the incentives are expected to increase occupancy rates in the industrial cities covered by the decision, stimulate economic activity and create additional sustainable employment opportunities in Madaba, Tafilah and Salt.

According to Obaidat, the incentive program introduced in 2019 has generated tangible results, attracting more than JD162 million in investments to the three industrial cities by the end of the first half of 2026 and creating over 1,640 jobs.

He said occupancy rates in the three industrial cities have increased from 27.5 percent to 40 percent, demonstrating the effectiveness of government policies aimed at directing investment to the governorates and promoting balanced regional development.

Obaidat added that the extension will enable JIEC to continue facilitating eligible companies' access to the incentives while stepping up efforts to market Jordan's industrial cities and attract additional value-added industrial projects, supporting economic growth and expanding national exports.

He said the decision is aligned with the Economic Modernization Vision and enhances the competitiveness of Jordan's industrial cities through advanced infrastructure, integrated services and attractive investment incentives.

Obaidat reaffirmed the company's commitment to working with government partners to provide a competitive investment environment and high-quality services for investors, contributing to local economic development and creating more employment opportunities across the governorates.

According to JIEC data, total investment in Madaba Industrial City reached approximately JD52 million by the end of the first half of 2026, supporting projects that created 550 jobs.

Investment in Salt Industrial City totaled JD48 million, generating 300 jobs, while Tafilah Industrial City attracted nearly JD63 million in investments, creating 792 jobs.
