Fitch warns of global LNG supply shortages amid regional tensions

Amman, March 17 (Petra) -- Fitch Ratings has warned that the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market is facing supply shortages due to regional developments.
Europe is competing with Asia to purchase LNG, with the main suppliers being Qatar and the United States, alongside Australia.
The agency noted that ongoing geopolitical tensions or any delays in gas deliveries could drive global prices higher, placing pressure on energy-intensive industrial sectors such as the chemicals industry.
This sector is particularly sensitive to energy costs, relying on gas both as a fuel source and as a production input in several industrial processes. Rising prices could erode profit margins and delay economic recovery, particularly in Europe.
