Amman, Jan. 7 (Petra) -- Five collective bargaining agreements were signed Tuesday at the Ministry of Labor with five companies operating in the electricity sector, aimed at improving employment benefits for about 2,800 workers across the Kingdom.

Minister of Labor Khaled Bakkar said the agreements followed a series of discussions between the General Trade Union of Workers in Electricity and the management of the electricity companies, held under the supervision of the Ministry of Labor.

Bakkar said such agreements serve the interests of workers by improving working conditions, noting that the ministry encourages direct dialogue between labor unions and employers to reach mutually beneficial arrangements within the production process. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation shown by the union and the management of the national electricity companies.

He stressed that promoting negotiation and cooperation between employers and unions contributes to a stable work environment, enhances job security, and yields positive economic and social outcomes. He added that this approach strengthens workers’ confidence in their companies and management, which in turn supports higher productivity.

Head of the General Trade Union of Workers in Electricity Fakhri Ajarmeh said the agreements were the result of constructive cooperation between the union and company administrations, with the support of the Ministry of Labor. He said the agreements will have a positive impact on workers by improving several employment benefits for about 2,800 employees at the five companies.
