Amman, March 4 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received phone calls on Wednesday from Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Overseas Employment and Tourism Vijita Herat and President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mirjana Spoljaric.

Safadi discussed with his counterparts the repercussions of the dangerous escalation in the region, prospects for restoring calm and efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading.

He called for activating diplomatic channels to strengthen security and stability across the region.

Safadi and Spoljaric reviewed preparations for the high-level conference on humanitarian action in conflict that Jordan is set to host in the final quarter of this year, as well as ongoing cooperation between Jordan and the ICRC.

The foreign ministers of Australia and Sri Lanka reaffirmed solidarity with Jordan.
