Amman, Nov. 25 (Petra) –Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee, chaired by Dr. Yousef Shawarbeh, approved a "wide" range of twinning and cooperation agreements with Arab and international cities.
During its session held Tuesday, the committee also approved extending the 75% exemption on horticultural agricultural goods intended for export until the end of 2026.
Additionally, the committee approved to extend fee exemption for agricultural goods intended for export under the wholesale markets system, aimed to support of Jordanian exports and enhance the agricultural sector's "competitiveness" in foreign markets.
The committee passed a draft twinning agreement with Morocco's Rabat Municipality, within the framework of a "strategic" partnership between the cities of Rabat and Amman.
According to a GAM statement, this partnership aims to promote "sustainable" urban development, improve municipal services, exchange expertise in urban planning and infrastructure, and preserve the two cities' shared cultural heritage.
In the same context, the committee approved a draft twinning agreement with Qatar's Doha Municipality, aimed to develop mutual cooperation and exchange "the best" practices in local governance, smart infrastructure, public transportation, and digital transformation.
The committee approved a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Municipality of Barcelona to support development of municipal services and enhance "institutional" modernization.
The GAM endorsed a draft MoU with the City of Seoul to promote prosperity, resilience, and the well-being of the cities' residents.
At the local level, the committee approved a cooperation agreement with ISRAR Al-Ma’rifah Company for Vocational Training and Education in the fields of sustainable development and environmental managementas, well as a draft MoU with the Jordan River Foundation to support its interventions, projects, follow-up and guidance programs, and capacity building for beneficiaries.
The statement said these decisions are part of the GAM’s strategy to strengthen its "international network and expand areas of technical and institutional cooperation, which would contribute to the development of the services system and improve life quality in the capital." //Petra// AG
