Amman, April 6 (Petra) -- The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has started developing a comprehensive plan to create three specialized tracks within the Amman National Park as part of a larger effort to modernize public amenities and expand local tourism.

The project will introduce dedicated cultural, historical, and sports tracks designed to enhance the visitor experience and promote healthier lifestyles. Officials said the move aligns with the municipality’s strategy to upgrade the park’s infrastructure and improve the quality of services provided to the public.

Ne'ma Qatanani, Deputy Director for Works Sector at GAM, stated that the project focuses on revitalizing domestic tourism through strategic partnerships with relevant ministries and institutions. "The goal of establishing these tracks is to provide an educational and recreational experience," Qatnani said. "Visitors will be able to explore sites of historical and cultural value within the park, while the new walking paths will reinforce the concept of a 'healthy city' by encouraging physical activity." Mohammad Abu Zeitoun, Executive Director of Amman Revitalization and Tourism Tracks, confirmed that specialized technical and engineering teams have conducted field surveys. These teams include experts from the Department of Urban Heritage, the Roads Directorate, and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department.

Mohammad Waheeb, a GAM consultant on the project, emphasized that the works aim to protect national heritage within protected areas. He noted that GAM’s parks offer significant potential for tourism development due to their diverse environmental and cultural landscapes.

Located on the road to Queen Alia International Airport, the Amman National Park is one of the capital’s largest green spaces. The new development plan seeks to transform the forest area into a multifaceted destination that combines environmental conservation with historical preservation and athletic recreation.
