Amman, Feb. 18 (Petra) -- German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, accompanied by the First Lady, on Wednesday visited the registration center of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Amman as part of his official visit to the Kingdom, which began Tuesday.

Steinmeier met with UNHCR Representative in Jordan Maria Stavropoulou, and was briefed on the center’s registration mechanisms and the agency’s efforts to provide protection and essential services to refugees, in cooperation with partners and in line with the needs of the most vulnerable groups.

The German president expressed appreciation for Jordan’s role in hosting refugees and affirmed Germany’s continued support for related humanitarian programs.

The visit reflects Germany’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Jordan and supporting the Kingdom in the fields of education, vocational training, and scientific research, as well as assisting its efforts in addressing the repercussions of regional crises.
