Aqaba, April 7 (Petra) -- PBI Aqaba Industrial Estate launched the "Towards a Greener Aqaba" initiative with support from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) aiming to strengthen environmental and urban development across the city.

Commissioner for Infrastructure and Urban Affairs, Mutasem Hindawi said Tuesday during the launch ceremony that the initiative reflects an advanced level of public-private partnership and a genuine commitment to national environmental goals. He noted that the authority pursues a comprehensive vision for city development that ensures sustainability across sectors.

Hindawi added that enhancing green spaces and improving the urban environment are key priorities, directly impacting public health, quality of life, and Aqaba’s appeal as a regional economic and tourism hub. He emphasized that such initiatives promote shared responsibility and highlight the private sector’s role in sustainable development.

Adele Yan, CEO of BPI Aqaba, emphasized that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its core operational strategy, underscoring the environment as a key pillar of any successful development process.

She added that the company applies global best practices in its industrial projects while launching community initiatives that raise environmental awareness and produce tangible results.

Yan highlighted that the initiative exemplifies industrial-community integration, stressing that investing in the environment is investing in future generations.

She affirmed the company’s commitment to expanding environmental programs to enhance Aqaba’s status as a sustainable industrial city capable of meeting global challenges in climate change and resource management.
