Zarqa, June 2 (Petra) – Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court Yousef Issawi on Tuesday patronized the Hashemite University's celebration of the 80th anniversary of Jordan's independence, an event that reflected national pride and highlighted the Kingdom's achievements under Hashemite leadership over the past eight decades.

During the ceremony, Issawi inaugurated an artistic mural titled "The Jordanian National Narrative: A Journey of Glory and a Sacred Mission," which chronicles the development of the Jordanian state since independence and showcases its national and developmental accomplishments. The mural highlighted the values of belonging and national identity while honoring the contributions and sacrifices of Jordanians in advancing the nation's progress and prosperity.

He also opened an accompanying art exhibition featuring paintings and handicrafts that celebrated Jordan's achievements and cultural heritage.

The celebration, organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs through its Department of Cultural and Artistic Activities, included a range of national, cultural, and artistic performances designed to commemorate the occasion and reinforce values of citizenship and national identity.

The program featured a patriotic song titled "Jordan, Land of Resilience," performed by the Hashemite University Choir, expressing pride in the homeland and its Hashemite leadership. A documentary video titled "Independence" was also screened, highlighting key milestones in the Kingdom's history and the major national and developmental achievements realized since the establishment of the Jordanian state.

Additional performances included patriotic songs by the al-Lawzeen Band, showcasing authentic Jordanian heritage, traditional folkloric dances by the Ma'an Folk Arts Troupe, and national musical pieces performed by the Public Security Directorate Band.

Hashemite University President Khaled Hayari said Independence Day represents the story of a nation that believed in its people and their capabilities, transforming challenges into opportunities and limited resources into tangible achievements.

He said Jordan has emerged as a model of a resilient and stable state, drawing its strength from the legitimacy of its history, the unity of its people, and their belief in the nation's mission and future under Hashemite leadership.

Hayari added that as Jordan advances through its second century, it does so with the confidence of a well-established state and a generation of young people capable of shaping the future. He stressed that the Kingdom's strength has always been rooted not only in its resources, but also in its people, leadership, and national institutions.
