Amman, Nov. 19 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Mazen Qadi met on Wednesday with Speaker of the Bahraini Shura Council Chairperson Ali Saleh and his accompanying delegation.

Qadi and Saleh discussed aspects of joint parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen relations under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in a manner that serves the interests of the two peoples and countries.

During the meeting, Qadi and Saleh discussed mechanisms for enhancing parliamentary cooperation, stressing the importance of exchanging legislative and parliamentary expertise and expanding joint coordination in regional and international forums, especially in light of the challenges facing the region that require unified Arab positions.

They underscored the depth of the ties that bind Jordan and Bahrain and the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to strengthen them in a way that achieves their common interests.

Qadi highlighted Jordan’s role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in defending Arab causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. He stressed Jordan’s steadfast position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and highlighted the importance of the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, describing it as a fundamental pillar for protecting the identity of the holy city.

He noted that Jordan’s relations with its brothers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are strong and deeply rooted, foremost among them the relations with the Kingdom of Bahrain, which he described as a cornerstone of the joint Arab action system. He added that Jordan views the security and stability of the GCC countries as a natural extension of its own national security.

Saleh said that Bahrain considers Jordan a key partner in strengthening regional security and stability and an important gateway for unifying Arab efforts amid current challenges.

He underlined his country’s committment to enhance cooperation with Jordan at all levels, praising the distinguished relations that bind the leaderships of the two countries and the deep-rooted partnership they reflect, which serves the interests of both brotherly peoples.

He underscored the importance of a unified and strong Arab stance, considering it essential for defending the causes of the Arab nation and enhancing regional stability. He expressed the Bahraini Shura Council’s appreciation for Jordan’s supportive role in advancing Arab cooperation.

He stressed that relations between Jordan and Bahrain represent a model of joint coordination based on trust, appreciation, and mutual respect, highlighting the importance of building on existing partnerships between the two legislative institutions through developing parliamentary training programs and exchanging visits and expertise, which contributes to improving legislative performance and strengthening joint parliamentary diplomacy.
