Amman, Mar. 17 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mazen Qadi, affirmed women are "key" partners in achieving economic development and play an "active" role in strengthening Jordan's various sectors.

Qadi's remarks came while chairing discussions of the House's Committee for Labor, Social Development, and Population on Tuesday with representatives of the women's sector, as part of dialogues to discuss the draft amendment to the Social Security Law 2026.

Qadi added that women's economic empowerment contributes to raising the Kingdom's growth rates and achieving social stability.

Addressing the panel session, he called for providing a legislative environment that supports women participation in the labor market and guarantees their rights within the social security umbrella.

He noted development of legislation regulating women's work, including the Social Security Law, reflects national trends aimed at promoting justice and equality, as well as enabling women to play their "active" role as true partners in the comprehensive development process.

Additionally, he underscored the importance of women's participation in "in-depth" dialogues to reach a "thoughtful" reform to the current law to protect subscribers and ensure the financial sustainability of social security.

Through these discussions, he stated the House seeks to protect low-income individuals, retirees, and subscribers from the economic repercussions that will affect them, while also preserving the rights of future generations.

On future vision, he said dialogues will continue with all relevant stakeholders to listen to their opinions and reach a "unified" goal.
