Amman, July 28 (Petra) – Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Mazen Qadi, stated the dangerous and systematic escalation of Israeli settler violence against the Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank requires "strong" Arab and international pressure to halt this escalating crime, which reflect state terrorism.
In this context, he referred to the provocative and illegal violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, adding that all these practices are carried out under protection of the Israeli government and army.
In a House statement issued on Tuesday, Qadi said the continued storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, settlements expansion, and campaigns to burn homes, properties, and agricultural lands constitute a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
Qadi added that this Israeli policy reflects a systematic policy aimed at oppressing Palestinians and forcibly imposing new realities, which Jordan rejects under any circumstances.
Urging the international community to reject and oppose this policy, he affirmed these crimes constitute organized terrorism and a crime that requires accountability and prosecution.
These crimes are an extension of the Israeli occupation's settlement policies, which undermine all efforts aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace and establishing a Palestinian state, and push the region toward further tension and instability, he pointed out.
The House also urged the international community, the Security Council, the United Nations, and the International Criminal Court to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and take "effective and urgent" measures to stop terrorism of the occupying state and hold perpetrators of these crimes accountable.
Additionally, the House called for ending the policy of impunity, and compelling Israel, the occupying power, to respect rules of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, as this is the sole way to achieve security, stability, and a just and lasting peace in the region.
