Industrial production index rises 1.44% in first 11 months of 2025

Amman, Jan. 12 (Petra) -- The Department of Statistics on Monday released its monthly report on the general index of industrial production quantities, which recorded a 1.44 percent increase during the first 11 months of 2025, compared with the same period in 2024.

On a monthly basis, the general industrial production index rose by 1.38 percent in November 2025 compared with November 2024, and by 0.74 percent compared with October 2025. The department noted that the base year for the index was revised to 2018=100, replacing the previous base year of 2010=100.

The cumulative industrial production index for the first 11 months of 2025 stood at 88.90 points, compared with 87.63 points for the corresponding period in 2024. The index for November 2025 reached 88.92 points, up from 87.71 points in November 2024 and 88.26 points in October 2025.

Comparing the cumulative index for the first 11 months of 2025 with the same period a year earlier, manufacturing production increased by 1.34 percent, accounting for 88.7 percent of total industrial output. Production in the extractive industries sector rose by 0.99 percent, representing 5.4 percent of the total, while electricity production increased by 2.91 percent, accounting for 5.9 percent.

The overall industrial production index for November 2025 increased compared with the same month in 2024, driven by a 0.74 percent rise in manufacturing output and a 16.06 percent increase in mining and quarrying activity. In contrast, electricity production declined by 1.33 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, the index for November 2025 rose compared with October 2025, supported by a 1.04 percent increase in manufacturing output and a 0.62 percent rise in mining and quarrying activity, while electricity production fell by 3.50 percent.

The Department of Statistics said the industrial production quantity index is calculated based on a selected sample of around 300 industrial establishments, with data collected on a monthly basis.
