Amman, July 21 (Petra) -- Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah held discussions with representatives of the US apparel sector in Washington on strengthening trade cooperation and exploring opportunities to attract new investments to the Kingdom.

The discussions took place during a session hosted by the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA), bringing together Jordanian officials, industry representatives, investors and executives from leading US apparel companies.

The meeting, held at the invitation of AAFA Executive Vice President Nate Herman, was attended by Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, representative of the leather and garment industries sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry Ehab Al-Qadri, representatives of the Jordanian Association of Garments and Textiles Exporters, and a number of investors and industry leaders.

Qudah highlighted Jordan’s efforts to strengthen its economic partnership with the United States and invited US companies to explore investment opportunities in the Kingdom, including those available through the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.

He also addressed measures to facilitate Jordanian apparel and garment exports to the US market, improve competitiveness and support supply chains.

The session included discussions on strengthening compliance with international labor standards, developing responsible supply chains and ensuring that Jordan’s apparel sector continues to meet global market requirements.

Al-Qadri pointed to the importance of the apparel and garment industry, noting that Jordanian apparel exports to the United States surpassed JD1.5 billion (around $2.1 billion) last year, with continued positive growth during the current year. He said the sector’s performance reflects the quality of Jordanian products and the confidence of US partners in the local production environment.

US company representatives highlighted the advantages of investing in Jordan and expressed interest in expanding commercial partnerships while benefiting from the Kingdom’s manufacturing and logistics capabilities.
