Amman, Aug. 23 (Petra) -- An attempt by four people to illegally cross the border was foiled early Sunday within the Southern Military Zone’s area of responsibility, according to the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

Border Guard units detected the individuals while they were attempting to cross one of the Kingdom’s border fronts and responded in accordance with the established rules of engagement.

All four were apprehended and referred to the competent authorities for further legal proceedings.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Jordan Armed Forces to secure the Kingdom’s borders and prevent unauthorized crossings, supported by continuous surveillance and a high level of operational readiness.

The JAF said Border Guard units remain deployed to counter illegal movements and activities along the Kingdom’s frontiers and prevent potential threats to national security.
