Amman, Nov. 18 (Petra) – Nidal Bitar, CEO of the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj), said digital transformation and entrepreneurship constitute a "cornerstone of innovation in Jordan today," amidst a wave of technological advancements in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data technology and cloud computing.
Speaking as a keynote speaker at the Masterminds Event, held as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025, he noted the world is experiencing "a massive surge in the adoption of digital transformation." Global reports indicate that spending on this transformation will reach approximately $4 trillion by 2027, while the sector is registering an annual growth rate of 16%. Furthermore, 74% of organizations now consider digital transformation a top strategic priority, he pointed out.
According to an Intaj statement issued Tuesday, he added that 90% of companies worldwide are currently working on transformation projects, as digital shift is underway in the industrial, health, education, transportation, agriculture, and government sectors, among others.
Bitar indicated that the success of digital transition depends on six key capabilities, mainly a clear strategy, a focus on commercial value, organizational readiness, investment in digital skills, enhanced culture of change, and seamless integration of technology, processes, and people.
Locally, he said 46% of young people in Jordan are of working age and "ready" to participate in the digital economy, representing a "significant" opportunity if managed and invested "effectively." To succeed, he stated entrepreneurship requires in-depth research, market analysis, a thorough understanding of the target audience, and a high degree of adaptability.
Bitar highlighted Intaj's "commitment" to supporting entrepreneurs through mentorship and empowerment programs, market access, and connecting startups with investors.
Jordan, he noted, has the human and intellectual resources to become a regional hub for technological innovation.
