Investment Minister wraps up China tour

Amman, June 25 (Petra) - Investment Minister Tareq Abu Ghazaleh on Thursday concluded a working visit to China, after holding "high-level" meetings with economic institutions and Chinese and international companies, and visiting industrial and technology facilities.

During his trip, Abu Ghazaleh attended inauguration of the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing, as an honorary member.

The Ministry of Investment presented a working paper showcasing Jordan’s "competitive" investment environment and inviting Chinese and international firms to explore opportunities in renewable energy, value-added industries, logistics, infrastructure, mining, and food industries.

The minister said Jordan offers "lucrative" investment priviliges, positioning it as a "regional hub" for business, logistics, and investment, supported by its strategic location, stability, regulatory reforms, and extensive trade agreements.

Additionally, Abu Ghazaleh met with Ren Hongbin, Chair of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the organizing body of the expo, alongside representatives of major Chinese economic institutions.

His tour featured meetings with several leading Chinese companies, including Cainiao Smart Logistics Network, a major player in logistics and e-commerce supply chains, and Sinofert and Sinochem Holdings, which operate in the fertilizer and agricultural technology sectors.

He toured a bus manufacturing facility supplying Jordan’s Southern Badia school transportation project, discussing investment opportunities in the Kingdom’s transportation manufacturing sector and the integration of advanced technologies to boost industrial capacity and competitiveness.

He also visited Xiong’an New Area, reviewing China’s smart city, infrastructure, and urban planning experience, and exploring ways to attract investment and expertise to Jordan under the Economic Modernisation Vision (EMV).

In press remarks, he said the visit strengthened direct engagement with Chinese institutions and business leaders, opening fresh avenues for cooperation in industry, logistics, energy, technology, agriculture, and infrastructure.

The ministry will follow up on the visit’s outcomes to create investment projects and partnerships that support economic growth and job creation in Jordan, he pointed out.
