Amman, July 19 (Petra) - An Iranian attack targeted a Kuwaiti power and water desalination plant on Sunday, sparking a fire and damaging multiple power generation units, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced.
According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the incident marks the second attack on the facility in two days, which the ministry officially condemned as part of an ongoing "heinous Iranian aggression" against the country.
Kuwait Fire Force teams quickly controlled the blaze. In response to the damaged units, the ministry activated emergency protocols to stabilize the national power grid and minimize service disruptions.
Meanwhile, technical and emergency crews are currently assessing the damage and securing the facility.
The ministry stated teams are working around the clock to "safely" restore the affected units to service, monitor the grid, and maintain utility stability.
Officials are "closely" coordinating with relevant authorities to manage the situation, pledging to provide public updates through official channels as new information becomes available.
