Irbid, Aug. 2 (Petra) -- The Irbid Chamber of Industry, in cooperation with the Jordanian American Business Council (JABC), organized a seminar on Sunday titled "The Gateway for Jordanian Industry to the US Market," attended by industrialists, investors, and sector representatives.

The seminar focused on evaluating investment opportunities and expanding export prospects to the United States, which serves as a major destination for Irbid's industrial exports.

Mamoun Al-Khader, a board member of the chamber, said Jordanian products have developed the competitive edge needed to access global markets, citing the strong reputation and high quality of domestic manufacturing.

Al-Khader highlighted the specific advantages provided by the Jordan-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, noting that customs tariffs on garment sector exports have reached zero percent, while tariffs on other industrial sectors do not exceed 10%. He said these terms serve as a key pillar for boosting product competitiveness and facilitating trade flows to U.S. consumers.

JABC Chairman Tarik Al-Hassan said the nonprofit organization focuses primarily on marketing Jordanian products globally, with an emphasis on the U.S. market, where demand for Jordanian goods continues to grow due to their diversity and quality.

Al-Hassan added that the council provides logistical support, including warehousing and distribution assistance within the United States, to ensure efficient access to American retail networks.

The council also provides specialized market studies to investors and manufacturers, evaluating sales potential and pricing strategies before product entry, Al-Hassan said. He announced plans to launch an online platform designed to promote national products across major international markets.

Nidal Al-Sadr, Director General of the Irbid Chamber of Industry, said trade agreements have yielded a direct positive impact on national export growth in recent years.

Al-Sadr noted that Jordan-U.S. trade agreements have contributed significantly to export performance while helping attract new investments that generate jobs and strengthen the broader economy.

Providing export figures, Al-Sadr said the United States topped the list of destinations for Irbid's industrial exports during the first seven months of the current year, with total export value exceeding $676 million.

The leather and garment sector ranked first in total exports from the governorate to the U.S. market, exceeding $630 million during the same seven-month period, with the majority destined for American buyers.
