Amman, May 3 (Petra) -- Certificates of origin issued by the Irbid Chamber of Industry totaled $83.7 million in April, marking a 5% decline compared with the same month in 2025. The chamber said 1,229 certificates were issued during the month, reflecting a 14.9% increase year-on-year.

The textiles and leather sector retained the top position among export industries, with a value of $71 million. It was followed by food, agricultural and supply industries at $6.4 million, and pharmaceuticals and medical supplies at $2.6 million.

Other exports were distributed across chemical and cosmetics industries, valued at $2.1 million, in addition to engineering, electrical, plastics, rubber, construction, packaging, paper, cardboard, office supplies and mining sectors.

Al-Hassan Industrial Estate accounted for the majority of exports, contributing more than 96%, followed by Cyber City at 3%, and the chamber’s main office at 1%.

Exports to the United States reached $48.4 million, followed by the Netherlands at $6.8 million, Germany at $4.3 million, Saudi Arabia at $2.9 million, and Canada at $2.1 million.

Chamber President Hani Abu Hassan said the industrial sector in the northern region remains resilient despite regional challenges, noting that the slight decline reflects ongoing disruptions affecting supply chains, trade flows and global demand, particularly in the US market.

He added that the sector continues to maintain its production and export capacity, highlighting the importance of building on growth in key sectors and markets, especially food industries and European markets, to enhance competitiveness.

Abu Hassan stressed that Jordan has provided a supportive industrial investment environment through streamlined procedures to maintain competitiveness, adding that the chamber is working with government entities and partners to open new markets and diversify exports.
