Irbid, Dec. 29 (Petra) – Director of the Irbid Labor Directorate Salem Bani Salameh said the number of job opportunities provided by the directorate’s Employment and Vocational Guidance Department for residents of Irbid Governorate during the current year reached 3,952 private-sector jobs covered by social security.

Bani Salameh told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday that the directorate also provided job opportunities for 54 persons with disabilities, noting that the number of certified certificates of experience reached 1,575, while the number of vocational guidance sessions for various segments totaled 551 sessions. He added that 67 new companies were registered on the National Employment Platform "Sajjil." He affirmed the directorate’s efforts to combat unemployment and enhance economic development by providing diverse job opportunities for citizens in light of the current economic conditions and challenges facing the labor market.

He added that the directorate’s team is working to implement effective strategies aimed at linking job seekers with employment opportunities that match their skills and qualifications, in addition to seeking to achieve partnerships with the private sector to enhance and provide job opportunities and open new avenues in this regard.

Bani Salameh said the responsibility of the Irbid Labor Directorate centers on implementing the policies of the Ministry of Labor through regulating the labor market and providing employment opportunities for job seekers in coordination with the private sector and the Irbid Chamber of Industry, such as organizing job fairs.

He added that the directorate undertakes inspection tasks, labor relations, follow-up of laws and regulations related to labor, and the provision of information and statistics on labor market data in the governorate to support national employment objectives, stressing that it is the executive arm of the Ministry of Labor in Irbid Governorate to achieve the ministry’s goals related to regulating and developing the labor market.

On the achievements of the Inspection and Safety Departments this year, Bani Salameh said the department carried out 12,583 inspection visits, issued 1,000 violations, and delivered 300 warnings to a number of violating establishments.

He added that the number of complaints resolved through the "Hemayeh" platform reached 955, while the number of certified contracts for Jordanian workers totaled 511 contracts. The number of establishments supervised by the directorate reached 23,500, noting that the directorate deported 374 male and female workers of various nationalities for violating Article 12 of the Jordanian Labor Law.
