Amman, May 5 (Petra) -- The Income and Sales Tax Department has commenced direct on-site monitoring of hospitals that have failed to comply with electronic integration requirements, the agency announced on Tuesday. The move comes after several private hospitals failed to link their databases with the national medical sector monitoring system. The system is designed to facilitate the seamless exchange of tax information between the department, hospitals, and physicians to ensure financial transparency.

The ISTD has begun deploying specialized personnel within these non-compliant facilities to obtain direct access to real-time data. Officials stated that this physical oversight aims to capture accurate revenue figures that reflect the actual volume of business conducted by the institutions.

Prior to these enforcement measures, the department had repeatedly urged hospitals to adopt the digital platform. Authorities highlighted that the system provides an organized and efficient electronic mechanism for tax data exchange, which serves to reduce administrative friction and limit the use of arbitrary tax estimates by auditors.

By automating the tracking of medical services, the department aims to eliminate discrepancies between its assessments and the financial records maintained by hospital administrations and private practitioners.
