Amman, July 7 (Petra) -- The International Trade Centre (ITC) has concluded the first phase of its Training of Trainers program on digital trade, an initiative aimed at strengthening digital trade capabilities in Jordan's services sector and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The program was implemented under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, in partnership with the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, the European Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (EuroJordan) and the Business Development Center (BDC).
According to an ITC statement issued Tuesday, the initiative is part of the "Enhancing E-Commerce and Digital Trade in the Middle East and North Africa" project, funded by the European Union and Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented by the ITC in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Dana Al-Zoubi said the program reflects the ministry's commitment to advancing the government's digital transformation agenda by developing specialized national expertise in digital trade and enabling Jordanian companies, particularly those in the services sector, to strengthen their competitiveness and expand into international markets through digital channels.
She said the initiative is aligned with the objectives of the second phase of the National E-Commerce Strategy (2026-2029) and the National Export Strategy, both of which place strong emphasis on digital capacity building, expanding services exports and leveraging opportunities offered by the digital economy.
The program focuses on SMEs operating in the services sector and applies a specialized ITC methodology that helps businesses transform their services into clearly defined products that can be marketed and sold through digital channels.
The methodology is designed to help companies reach new markets, expand service exports and enhance their competitiveness by taking advantage of opportunities in the digital economy.
ITC Training Program Manager and E-Commerce Adviser Elvira Al-Hajiri said transforming specialized expertise into scalable service packages that can be delivered through digital platforms opens new opportunities for Jordanian service providers beyond regional markets.
She said the first phase of the Training of Trainers program represents an important milestone in building local expertise capable of preparing service providers to export their services and strengthening Jordan's position as a regional hub for professional services.
According to the statement, selected participants will advance to a specialized training program that will qualify them as ITC-certified trainers, enabling them to transfer knowledge and apply the organization's methodology in supporting SMEs.
Following certification, the trainers will work with beneficiary companies to help them develop service offerings that can be promoted and sold through digital channels, strengthening their online presence, competitiveness and export potential.
The ITC will also invite SMEs operating in the services sector to apply for advisory services under the project, which aims to support more than 100 companies. The application process will be announced through the ITC's social media platforms and those of its project partners.
