Amman, May 7 (Petra)-- The Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army (JAF) continue to carry out their operational and security duties across all border fronts with high efficiency and professionalism amid the growing security challenges and rapid developments in the region, as part of ongoing efforts to combat infiltration and smuggling attempts and safeguard the Kingdom’s security and stability.
Field reports showed that military regions, along with their formations and units, dealt with 536 infiltration and smuggling attempts throughout 2025, all of which were successfully thwarted. Authorities seized a total of 18,938,266 narcotic pills of various types and 251 kilograms of drugs, including hydro, Captagon, and crystal methamphetamine. Forces also confiscated 14,471 hashish slabs, shot down 89 drones, and seized 168 light weapons.
During the first quarter of 2026, the Armed Forces foiled 156 infiltration and smuggling attempts, seizing 9,202,872 Captagon pills and 10,464 kilograms of narcotics, including hydro and crystal methamphetamine, in addition to 1,310 hashish slabs. Forces also downed 26 drones and confiscated 32 light weapons.
The figures highlight the scale of the challenges facing the Armed Forces along Jordan’s borders amid the increasing frequency of smuggling and infiltration attempts and the evolving methods used by organized smuggling networks, including drones and advanced technological means.
On the regional level, the Jordan Armed Forces operate according to an advanced and highly precise strategy through which they identify the launch points of regional arms and drug smuggling networks from various locations. The military remains fully prepared to neutralize these networks during the preparation phase before smuggling operations reach the execution stage at Jordan’s borders.
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces continue to enhance their operational, technical, and technological capabilities, while strengthening surveillance, command, control, and reconnaissance systems to ensure rapid response and high precision in dealing with various threats, maintaining the highest levels of readiness to protect the Kingdom’s borders and preserve national security.
These efforts reflect the advanced level of competence and professionalism demonstrated by Armed Forces personnel and their ability to carry out duties under various conditions and terrains with the highest levels of coordination and readiness, contributing to the prevention of attempts targeting the nation’s security and stability.
The Jordan Armed Forces reaffirmed that they will continue carrying out their national duties with determination and resolve and will not allow any attempt to undermine the Kingdom’s security or threaten the safety of its citizens, stressing that protecting the borders and preserving national security remain top national priorities carried out with strength, efficiency, and professionalism.
