Amman, July 21 (Petra) -- Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) President Ayman Alawneh and Omani Ambassador to Jordan Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman Alojaili discussed ways to strengthen economic and investment cooperation and expand private-sector partnerships between the two countries.
According to the JBA statement issued Tuesday, Alawneh said the "strong" Jordanian-Omani ties, backed by both countries' leadership, provide a "solid" foundation for advancing economic and investment relations.
Alawneh called for translating those ties into "feasible" projects and partnerships that serve mutual interests.
He highlighted significant opportunities to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including tourism and medical tourism, citing Jordan's "advanced" healthcare and tourism capabilities.
Pointing to mining and related industries, he also noted opportunities in enhancing banking and financial services between the two countries to facilitate trade, investment, and financing for joint ventures.
Alawneh said the JBA is "committed" to expanding engagement with Oman's private sector and building sustainable partnerships between business communities to increase trade, encourage joint investments, and capitalize on opportunities across various economic sectors.
Jordan, he stated, offers an "attractive" investment environment supported by modern legislation, competitive incentives, a strategic location, and free trade agreements that provide investors with access to regional and global markets.
He also expressed the JBA's interest in organizing joint business delegations and economic meetings to further strengthen cooperation.
For his part, Alojaili reaffirmed the "strength" of Jordanian-Omani relations, calling for increasing contacts between business leaders, exchanging visits, and launching joint investment projects in priority sectors to boost trade and deliver mutual economic benefits.
Trade between Jordan and Oman reached $167 million in 2024, up from $157 million in 2023, according to official data.
Fertilizers, live animals, chemical products, and garments are among Jordan's leading untapped export opportunities in the Omani market.
