Amman, Feb. 17 (Petra) -- The Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) reinforced its regional economic engagement by participating in high-level meetings and forums held in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, bringing together representatives of chambers of commerce from across the Islamic world.
The Jordanian delegation, led by JCC President Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, joined the 41st General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD), along with meetings of its executive and financial committees. Representatives from 16 countries attended the sessions, which focused on governance, financial oversight, and the chamber’s strategic direction for the coming period.
Key outcomes included the approval of the 2026 budget, endorsement of recent financial reports, and discussions on upcoming programs and initiatives. The Assembly also oversaw board-related decisions for the new term. In a vote reflecting continued confidence in Jordan’s economic role, the Jordan Chamber of Commerce secured re-election to the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chamber.
As part of its committee membership, the Jordanian delegation also contributed to discussions on financial governance and institutional sustainability during the Financial Committee meeting, emphasizing transparency and long-term stability in the chamber’s operations.
In parallel, the delegation participated in the third edition of Makkah Halal Forum 2026, held under the theme "Halal: A Professional Industry." The forum convened government officials, accreditation authorities, business leaders, and international companies to explore the future of the global halal sector, focusing on standardization, credibility, and expanding market opportunities.
Al-Haj Tawfiq underscored that the General Assembly serves as the highest platform for shaping joint Islamic economic action, noting that stronger institutional coordination and strategic partnerships are essential in light of ongoing global economic shifts. He stressed the need for flexible and integrated cooperation models that stimulate investment, generate employment, and enhance competitiveness across member states.
On the sidelines of the meetings, the Jordanian delegation held bilateral talks with counterparts from several Islamic chambers to broaden cooperation frameworks and explore investment opportunities that could benefit Jordan’s economy.
