Jerash, Feb 15 (Petra) - Jerash Governor Malek Khraisat stressed the need to set a clear path for launching the "Green Wheels" initiative, which aims to collect plastic bottles and use their proceeds to establish an inclusive school for children with cerebral palsy.

During a meeting on Sunday with Chairman of the Greater Jerash Municipality Committee Mohammad Bani Yaseen, Director of the Cultural Directorate Oqleh Al-Qaderi, Director of the Education Directorate Wael Al-Azzam, Environment Office Director Mustafa Al-Zyoud, and representatives of the Zaha Cultural Center, Khraisat underscored the importance of enhancing community awareness of the initiative and adopting a proactive culture in supporting it.

The governor listened to the demands of the Zaha Center, which included activating the initiative in schools and engaging students through educational seminars and awareness workshops to clarify the project’s objectives and its humanitarian impact.

For his part, Bani Yaseen said the municipality had developed a comprehensive plan to expand the scope of the initiative by providing designated containers for collecting plastic bottles at several locations, to be announced later, to encourage citizens to participate.

Al-Azzam said the directorate had activated the initiative in about 185 schools, ensuring broad participation by students in supporting its objectives.

Participants stressed that the initiative carries both environmental and humanitarian dimensions, as it contributes to raising awareness of the importance of recycling while at the same time supporting a pioneering humanitarian project to establish an inclusive school for children with cerebral palsy, ensuring their integration with their peers in a comprehensive educational environment.
