Amman, June 22 (Petra) - Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa arrived in the Gaza Strip on Monday on a visit to support local Christian communities and residents facing humanitarian challenges.
The visit is a part of the Churches of Jerusalem's pastoral responsibility toward Christian communities in the Gaza Strip. Church elders said their presence in Gaza carries Jerusalem’s prayers and spiritual support.
They are scheduled to meet clergy members and local families to address the humanitarian repercussions of the crisis through pastoral outreach, prayer, and direct engagement with affected communities.
The patriarchs expressed deep appreciation for Jordan’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, pointing to the Kingdom’s delivery of relief and medical aid, support for hospitals, and initiatives to bolster Gaza's healthcare sector.
Jordan’s efforts reflect a longstanding humanitarian and moral commitment to supporting the Palestinians, they said.
Josef Blotz, Grand Hospitaller of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, accompanied the church leaders to review humanitarian conditions and check on the progress of healthcare and relief initiatives in Gaza.
