Amman, Sep. 16 (Petra) – Jordan Media Commission (JMC) has circulated a gag order banning publication or circulation of any news, information, or materials related to the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)-Arab Army.
The move excludes items officially issued by the JAF General Command, which is the solely authorized entity for making statements and publishing information.
As for its scope, this step targets print and online publications, radio and TV broadcasters, and accredited foreign media and press organizations.
In its decision, the JMC said the step specifically prohibits any posts to report or circulate information on appointments and retirements within the JAF apparatus, whether through websites, news agencies, media platforms, or social media.
The JMC said any violation would constitute a "breach" of information security and is considered disrespectful to the JAF officers.
The commission underscored necessity of "strictly" adhering to the content of the order and refraining from circulating or posting any JAF-related information, unless authorized by the responsible source.
