HANOI (Petra) – Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mazen Al-Qadhi, and the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, held high-level discussions in Hanoi today to advance bilateral relations, with a specific focus on legislative and grassroots engagement.

The two leaders explored the establishment of a joint parliamentary friendship association, envisioned as a vehicle to align national stances on regional, international, and multilateral issues. Speaker Al-Qadhi underscored Jordan’s commitment to deepening cross-sectoral cooperation. He noted that the landmark Royal Visit to Vietnam in November 2025 served as a transformative milestone in a diplomatic relationship spanning 46 years.

During the session, Al-Qadhi commended Vietnam’s strategic achievements and its principled support for the Palestinian cause and the right to an independent state. He further emphasized the significance of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. Highlighting the moderate foreign policies shared by both nations, Al-Qadhi invited his Vietnamese counterpart to visit the Kingdom to explore further avenues for parliamentary and economic synergy.

The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on parliamentary cooperation, aimed at formalizing the exchange of legislative expertise and strengthening bilateral ties. For his part, Tran Thanh Man expressed Vietnam’s intent to broaden the scope of partnership into trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, and healthcare.

On the sidelines of the official visit, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Awad Al-Ghuwairi, met with his Vietnamese counterpart to discuss the operational implementation of the MoU and enhance administrative coordination between the two secretariats. The Jordanian parliamentary delegation included deputies Zuhair Al-Khashman, Mohammad Al-Maharma, Abdul Hadi Brizat, Mohammad Salameh Al-Ghuwairi, and Omar Bani Khalid, in the presence of Jordan’s non-resident Ambassador to Vietnam, Saed Radaideh.
