Cairo, July 21 (Petra) - Jordan reaffirmed its support on Tuesday for the Palestinian cause and the UNRWA's vital role during the 115th session of the Conference of Supervisors of Palestinian Affairs in Arab Host Countries, hosted by the Arab League.

Jordan’s permanent delegation to the Arab League participated in the three-day conference, chaired by Ahmad Abu Holi, Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Head of the Department of Refugee Affairs.

Delegates discussed strategies to bolster joint Arab coordination on key issues, including Jerusalem, settlement activities, UNRWA's financial stability, regional economic support for Palestinian territories, and follow-up on recommendations from the 93rd session of the Educational Affairs Council of Palestinian Children.

During the meetings, the Jordanian delegation noted that the Palestinian cause remains the Kingdom's top priority, emphasizing support for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.

The delegation stressed the efforts of the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under His Majesty King Abdullah II to safeguard the city's historic and legal status quo.

Addressing refugee rights, the delegation said that a just solution must align with UN General Assembly Resolution 194, securing the right of return and compensation while safeguarding the rights of host nations.

The delegation described UNRWA as a "non-negotiable lifeline" for millions of refugees, calling on international donors to deliver sustainable and predictable funding to protect the agency's mandate, facilities, and staff.
