Amman, Dec 16 (Petra) - Representative of the telecommunications and information technology sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Haitham Rawajbeh stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with Indian companies in the fields of telecommunications and information technology and leveraging the advanced expertise India possesses in this vital sector.

Rawajbeh told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the Indian market is among the largest global markets in information technology, digital transformation, software development and smart solutions, which provides real opportunities for Jordanian companies to build strategic partnerships that contribute to knowledge transfer, exchange of expertise and enhancement of the sector’s competitiveness locally and regionally.

He added that cooperation with Indian companies could include areas of technological innovation, cybersecurity, digital services, smart applications and human capital development, stressing that Jordan possesses an attractive investment environment and qualified young talents capable of joint work and implementing high-quality projects serving local and regional markets.

Rawajbeh affirmed that the current stage requires expanding areas of cooperation to include benefiting from India’s successful experiences in supporting startups, business incubators and growth accelerators, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and e-commerce, noting that transferring these experiences would contribute to strengthening Jordan’s innovation ecosystem and providing quality job opportunities for youth.

He added that building long-term partnerships with Indian companies contributes to attracting joint investments, localizing technology and developing digital products and services targeting regional and international markets, stressing that the telecommunications and information technology sector constitutes a key driver of economic growth.

He said that the strong support and continued interest of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II represent a fundamental pillar for strengthening the telecommunications and information technology sector and driving the national economy toward a more prosperous future, in addition to encouraging companies to innovate, lead and provide solutions that serve the national economy.

He pointed out that Jordan, with the investment advantages it possesses, is capable of becoming a regional hub for the digital economy, which today accounts for 12 percent of gross domestic product, stressing that progress in this field supports the Kingdom’s integration into the global economy and increases opportunities for companies and exports to access international markets.

For his part, the representative of the leather and garments industries sector at the Jordan Chamber of Industry, Ehab Qaderi, affirmed that the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Kingdom carries special economic importance, as it reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries and the keenness of both sides to develop economic and trade partnerships, particularly in high value-added productive sectors.

He said that the leather and garments industries sector comes at the forefront of sectors benefiting from this rapprochement, as Indian investments are among the main investments in Jordan’s apparel sector and over past years have contributed to boosting exports, transferring expertise and providing thousands of job opportunities, making the sector a successful model of industrial integration between Jordan and India.
