Amman, May 4 (Petra) -- Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah called for bolstering economic and trade relations with the United Arab Emirates and expanding industrial and investment partnerships to serve mutual interests.
Speaking during his participation in the "Make it in the Emirates" event held in Abu Dhabi, Qudah said Jordan is moving ahead with its Economic Modernisation Vision, which focuses on empowering the industrial sector, stimulating investment and boosting the competitiveness of the national economy.
He pointed to promising investment opportunities in food, pharmaceutical and mining industries, as well as advanced technology, alongside strategic projects in green energy and supply chains.
During a meeting with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Qudah discussed the importance of activating and building on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries to increase trade volumes and stimulate joint investments.
He said the agreement represents a key pillar for supporting national exports and diversifying the production base, as well as facilitating the registration of Jordanian pharmaceuticals in the UAE market to enhance access to external markets.
Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic and investment cooperation with Jordan and expanding partnerships in priority sectors, particularly industry, advanced technology and trade, in a way that supports economic integration and sustainable development in both countries.
Qudah also toured the "Make it in the Emirates" exhibition and met Jordanian investors in the UAE to discuss ways to enhance their industrial investments. On the sidelines of the visit, he is also scheduled to meet members of the Jordanian community and investors in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
In a separate meeting held on the sidelines of the event, Qudah discussed with Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro ways to enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.
He stressed the importance of developing bilateral cooperation, particularly in industrial and commercial fields, and building on the outcomes of the joint higher committee to increase trade exchange and strengthen private sector partnerships, while highlighting investment opportunities in food industries, pharmaceuticals and logistics services within the Economic Modernization Vision.
Qudah called for convening a meeting of the Jordanian-Bahraini Joint Higher Committee this year in Amman to help advance economic relations.
He also underscored the importance of leveraging trade agreements linking both countries with global markets to facilitate technology transfer, increase investment and enhance the competitiveness of national industries, reaffirming Jordan’s commitment to providing an attractive investment environment and incentives for joint projects.
The Bahraini minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Jordan, praising bilateral ties and calling for expanding collaboration, particularly in the industrial sector, and enhancing the role of the private sector in establishing investment partnerships.
Both sides stressed the need to boost trade exchange and benefit from international agreements to support technology transfer and establish industrial partnerships, particularly in pharmaceuticals, food, textiles and chemicals, as well as expanding cooperation in food security, education, information technology, energy and agriculture.
