Amman, Jan. 11 (Petra) -- Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Sunday met with Canada’s Ambassador Louis-Martin Aumais to discuss avenues for cooperation in several social sectors.
During the meeting, Bani Mustafa stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation on the ministry’s programs, particularly the childcare support project, which contributes to strengthening the care sector, and the "Oases for Women and Girls Empowerment" project implemented at the ministry’s local community development centers in partnership with several entities.
She said the cooperation reflects a shared commitment to advancing sustainable development and supporting the most vulnerable groups.
She also highlighted the value of effective partnership on a range of social programs, including capacity-building for social-sector workers through accrediting training programs and pathways under the social work practice licensing system. This includes support for specialized workshops in cooperation with the World University Service of Canada - Jordan Branch under the BUCRA Project funded by the Canadian government.
Bani Mustafa reviewed several social programs and services provided to target groups, with particular emphasis on services for persons with disabilities. She said these services reflect Jordan’s commitments and align with the Amman-Berlin Declaration issued by the Global Disability Summit last year.
For his part, Aumais underscored the importance of cooperation in exchanging expertise, strengthening the care sector, and supporting ministry programs, praising the ministry’s role in empowering its target groups. He expressed hope to further expand cooperation between the two sides in the future.
