Jordan, China foreign ministers talk ties

Beijing, August 23 (Petra) - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Sunday to discuss expanding cooperation and regional stability ahead of His Majesty King Abdullah II's scheduled talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The top diplomats discussed agreements slated for signing during the visit, boosting the strategic partnership forged in 2015.
Wang said China values its relations with Jordan, describing the King’s visit as an "important milestone" that reflects the depth of bilateral ties.
Safadi voiced King Abdullah's commitment to expanding ties with Beijing, noting that talks with the Chinese President will focus on concrete steps to boost cooperation.
He praised the King's key role in promoting security and stability in the region.
Safadi pledged Jordan's commitment to the One-China policy and commended Beijing's support for a two-state solution in Palestine to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East.
The meeting comes during King Abdullah's state visit to China, which focuses on deepening economic, trade, investment and tourism ties.
