Amman, March 10 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khreisat met with Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Guo Wei on Tuesday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in agriculture.

Khreisat said that Jordan's ties to China span decades and continue to grow across various sectors. He called for expanding cooperation in agriculture, and he discussed developing agricultural value chains and enhancing food security.

He called for broadening collaboration in the transfer of modern technologies and the exchange of technical expertise: smart agriculture, water resource management and modern agricultural production technologies.

Khreisat discussed the potential benefits of China's advanced expertise in agricultural technology and innovation, including modern irrigation systems and the use of digital applications and artificial intelligence in farm management.

He said that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to strengthening cooperation in scientific research, training and capacity building for Jordanians in the agricultural sector.

Khreisat sai that Jordan offers a favourable environment for agricultural investment and called for expanding joint investment opportunities between the public and private sectors in both countries, particularly in food processing and modern agricultural technologies, to support sustainable agricultural development.

The Chinese ambassador, in turn, expressed pride in the strong relations between the two countries and said that Beijing is committed to expanding cooperation with Jordan in various fields, particularly agriculture.

He called for promoting technology transfer, exchanging expertise and encouraging joint investments. //Petra// AK
